Poland's History
Poland came into existence in the tenth century but didn't really become what we know as Poland until the 19th century where Warsaw was built and began to flourish. ownership was handed to Russia, but Poland still kept building and made transportation(Which we will talk about later.) In 1915 the first world war happened Poland was captured but soon after regained, but another war against Russia was waged and Poland became an independent nation. In 1939 the second world war happened and Warsaw was bombed and captured the 27th of September. Jews were prominent in Warsaw and were rounded up and taken to the ghetto. There was an upbringing that was stopped the first time, but succeeded the second for a short period before the Nazis regained it once again. A large decline is seen in population within Warsaw during this time and many memorials have been built from this tragic event. Warsaw is now flourishing and has a population of 1.7 million.
POland's transportation |
Poland has some of the best public transport systems. Any fairly large cities will have a network of municipal transportation that includes buses , trains, trams, and if your in Warsaw a metro. Let's talk about Warsaw in specific; Warsaw is the only city in Poland that has a metro. In fact more and more lines are being built to expand Warsaw metro, but that is not the only thing that makes Warsaw so easy to get around, because 1,500 buses work around the clock to get citizens to their destinations. Buses have intricate routes that can get you almost anywhere. This makes it easy for people to get to work if they live on the outskirts of the city, which is one of the reasons Poland's economy is doing so well.
